Cute Halloween Cupcake Ideas- Dracula, Devil, Frankenstein & Spider Cupcakes


These Halloween cupcake ideas are a great way to use up leftover sweets. Which brings up the question, is there any such thing as leftover sweets!!??Not in my house!  I try really hard not to buy sweets because I can never just have one or two.  It’s like they call to me.  Can you resist the temptation of chocolate and sweets?

These Halloween cupcake ideas are really easy to make.  It’s a great activity to do with the kids over midterm.  Hopefully you will have most of the ingredients in your baking press so you can whip these up in no time.

Supplies for Dracula Cupcakes

  • Cooled baked cupcakes, use your favourite recipe or cheat and buy them!
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tsp milk
  • Black or purple (red and blue) food colouring
  • Strawberry laces
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Giant milk chocolate buttons

Method for Dracula Cupcakes

  1. Mix the icing sugar, milk and black food colouring until you have no lumps.  It will make a thick icing.
  2. Spread the icing on the cupcakes.
  3. For the eyes stick a chocolate chip to a white button with some icing.
  4. Cut up 1 inch strawberry lace for the mouth and stick it on.  Stick 2 sunflower seeds on for the fangs.
  5. For the hair, cut out a v from a giant milk chocolate button.  Use icing to stick the “hair” to the cupcakes.

Ingredients for Frankenstein Cupcakes

  • Cooled baked cupcakes, use your favourite recipe or cheat and buy them!
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tsp milk
  • Green food colouring
  • Strawberry laces
  • Whole almonds

Method for Frankenstein Cupcakes

  1. Follow steps 1-3 for the Dracula cupcakes, except use green food colouring.
  2. Cut 1 inch of strawberry lace and scrunch it together to make a sideways “s” for the mouth.
  3. Make the scar with 3 small strips of strawberry lace stuck to a 1 inch strip of strawberry lace with icing.
  4. Push a whole almond into each side of the cupcake for the neck bolts.

Ingredients for Devil Cupcakes

  • Cooled baked cupcakes, use your favourite recipe or cheat and buy them!
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tsp milk
  • Red food colouring
  • Strawberry laces
  • Marshmallows

Method for Devil Cupcakes

  1. Follow steps 1-3 from Dracula cupcakes except use red food colouring.
  2. Cut up 1 inch strawberry lace for the mouth and stick it on.
  3. Cut horn/cone shapes from the marshmallows
  4. Use the icing to stick the marshmallows to the cupcake.

Ingredients for Spooky Spider Cupcakes

  • Cooled baked cupcakes, use your favourite recipe or cheat and buy them!
  • Melted chocolate
  • Strawberry laces
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Toothpick

  1. Cut strawberry laces into 2 inch strips, you need 8 “legs” per spider cupcake.
  2. Spread melted chocolate on each of the cupcakes.
  3. Add eyes on the cupcakes as per step 3 on Dracula cupcakes.
  4. Use a toothpick to poke 4 holes on each side of the cupcakes and stick strawberry lace “legs” into the holes.
  5. Add 2 sunflower seeds on each cupcake for fangs. If the chocolate is already set use leftover red icing to stick them down, it looks like blood stains, creepy!
