I have received so many compliments for this marble wall clock. Lots of people have asked me where I bought it from! I don’t know why, but when somebody thinks I bought a DIY in an actual shop, that is the best compliment ever! And, my guilty secret is that this is so easy and cheap to make.
Supplies for Marble Wall Clock:
- Wall clock, one without a frame is best
- Acrylic paint – white and gold
- Marble contact paper
- Paint brush
- Damp cloth for smoothing out the contact paper
- Craft knife
- Optional- masking tape
Method for Marble Wall Clock:
Carefully remove clock hardware. I took a photo of my clock hardware pieces first to remind me how to put them back at the end. I was afraid I would destroy the clock so I followed the instructions from here.
*If your clock has a pattern on it paint it white as it will show up through the marble contact paper.
Lay out your contact paper, face down, and trace around your clock. Cut it out.
With your clock face side up, peel back a little of the backing paper from the contact paper. Place this carefully on the clock. User your damp cloth to smooth it out, ensuring it’s bubble free. Repeat this until the entire clock face is covered.
Next, with the clock face up use a craft knife to poke a hole through the clock face where the clock hands go.
Now it is time to paint your clock. You can use masking tape to create a smooth, straight line where you want the gold to go. I free handed mine. It took 2 – 3 coats of gold acrylic paint to give a nice, opaque finish.
I put the clock hardware back together and that is it – one finished marble wall clock!
I love how it turned out. If you try this please share your DIY with me on social media using #Procrastimake. I can’t wait to see your creations.
